American Favorite Food
1. Classic Cheeseburger

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
A pound of ground beef – the 80/20 mix is a good starting point
4 good burger buns to build on
4 slices of cheddar cheese to melt into the patty
Lettuce – any crisp type will do
Tomato slices
Onion slices
Pickles for a bit of zing
Some salt and pepper to season
A bit of butter to toast the buns
Ketchup and mustard to add some extra flavor
Instructions
Season that ground beef with a bit of salt and pepper to get things going.
Form the beef into 4 nice patties.
Pop a hot pan or fire up the grill, and get those patties on for 4-5 minutes per side.
Add some cheese on top during the last minute of cooking, so it gets all melty.
Meanwhile, toss those buns on the grill or in the pan for a bit, with a pat of butter to give them a nice brown.
Now you’ve got the base, so just add your favorite toppings and you’re good to go.
2. Southern Fried Chicken

Ingredients
Eight pieces of chicken to get your teeth into
2 cups of buttermilk to start soaking them
2 cups of flour
A teaspoon of paprika to give it a bit of depth
A teaspoon of garlic powder
Some salt
Some pepper
Vegetable oil to fry in
Instructions
Chuck that chicken into the buttermilk for at least four hours before you get cooking.
Get the flour mixed up with your seasonings so it’s ready to go.
Coat that chicken in flour pretty thoroughly – you want it to stick.
Then get your oil hot and fry that chicken until it’s golden brown – about 350°F/175°C.
Finally, get the chicken off the oil and onto some paper towels to drain.
